靜思語核心價值之初探

Abstract

This study aims at exploring the core values of Jing Si Aphorism. The survey method was used to understand the opinion of teachers, students and parents in Tzu Chi Foundation on core values of Jing Si Aphorism. 4220 questionnaires were delivered and 3689 questionnaires were returned. Response rate is 87.4%. In this study, first, we analyzed the trends of current character education to point out the relationship between Jing Si Aphorism and character education. Secondly, we reviewed related studies about Jing Si Aphorism to indicate the importance of understanding the core values of Jing Si Aphorism. Finally, we surveyed the ranking of core value of Jing Si Aphorism and the reasons of choices. Based on these findings, we provided the suggestions in the future. Findings showed the top 10 important core values. They are filial piety, gratefulness, contentment, respect for life, tolerance, responsibility, cherish blessings, honesty, great love, and doing good deeds. Participants chose these core values not only by their situation but also by foundation and value of these items. Current findings showed slight different choices by participants' status. These results will provide some implications for curriculum design, core values choice, material arrangement and instruction adaptation so that the teachings of Jing Si Aphorism will enhance the effectiveness of character education.
