Tzu Chi University-Pure Scholars
Tzu Chi University's educational philosophy is based on character and knowledge, and put into practice through humanism and service. To cultivate professionals with critical thinking, teamwork, and the spirit of Tzu Chi's humanistic service, the university invests up to 290% of its annual tuition and learning revenue in teaching and learning resources. From 2008 to 2022, the university received recognition from the Ministry of Education's Teaching Excellence Program and Higher Education Deep Cultivation Program for 15 consecutive years. It boasts abundant teaching and learning resources, a spacious campus, and 81.23 square meters of usable floor space per student. Each faculty member is provided with 5-8 ping (approximately 3.3-6.6 square meters) of research space and 10-15 ping (approximately 3.3-6.6 square meters) of laboratory space, meeting the teaching and research needs of students and faculty. The university achieved a 100% pass rate in the first, second, and third cycles of departmental accreditation. It also passed all university-wide accreditation assessments in the first and second cycles, as well as assessments for the medical department, physical education, gender education, general education, and faculty development.
In the 2017 Global Views Monthly's "Best Universities in Taiwan" ranking, our university ranked 20th out of 145 public and private universities, including 15th in teaching and 15th in academic achievements, surpassing many long-established national and private universities. In the 2018 Global Views magazine's "Best Universities in Taiwan" ranking, our university ranked 6th in medical school, 9th among private universities, 4th in the percentage of international students among the top 100 universities, and 12th in teaching performance. In the 2022 Global Views Monthly's "Best Universities in Taiwan" ranking, our university ranked 4th in medical school, 15th among private universities, 4th in financial system (up 12 places from 2021), and 22nd in industry-academia collaboration (up 4 places from 2021). In the 2023 Global Views Monthly's Best Universities in Taiwan rankings, the university ranked 25th among general universities, 4th among medical universities, 14th among private universities, 4th in financial health, 21st in industry-academia collaboration, 1st nationwide in industry-academia revenue per faculty member, 5th in average student funding, and 20th in the ratio of international students. In the 2025 Global Views Monthly's Best Universities in Taiwan rankings, the university will rank 30th among general universities and 13th among private universities. It will rank 2nd in both student enrollment ("small universities") and funding ("medium-funded universities"), 9th in financial health, 30th in social reputation, and 28th in industry-academia collaboration performance, demonstrating the school's dedication to education.
